Karen Harris is Regents Emeritus Professor at Arizona State University. An educator for 50 years, she first taught 4th grade in a coal mining community in West Virginia and then adolescents in special education. She developed the Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) model of strategies instruction based on her experiences as a teacher. SRSD is an evidence-based practice in the What Works Clearinghouse. SRSD works for close reading for informative and persuasive writing and content areas.

Cheryl holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, is a distinguished educational leader, and has been recognized with multiple awards for her achievements. She served as the lead curriculum developer for Learning Without Tears' Get Set for School Language and Literacy curriculum, which received an AEP Distinguished Achievement Award, and was awarded the Investors Bank Educator of the Year Award.
